DQ Phone Capture - User Guide

Introduction

DQ Phone Capture allows users to check a phone number's validity, structure, and authenticity in real time when capturing data.

Getting Started

The DQ Phone Capture tool operates like a standard Dynamics CRM input but includes some handy features for improving the quality of data being captured.

Features and Functionalities

Feature 1: The Country Dropdown

Unlike the standard Dynamics offering our control gives you a flag dropdown that helps you to visually identify which country the number is from, it also aids in data capture when dealing with international numbers.

Feature 2: Data Quality Checks

There are 6 possible states for the data quality checks, and which ones are available to you will depend on what your System Administrator has configured.

1. Disabled

Your System Administrator can opt to disable the Data Quality checks, if this is the case the control will look like this.

2. Not Processed (Default State)

When the control has not been interacted with yet you will see an arrow button which allows you to trigger the data quality check. The result of which will be one of the next 4 states.

3. Invalid

When the value entered is incorrect you will get a white cross inside a red circle. Seeing this indicates 1 of 2 scenarios. 1) The phone entered is not possible for the country selected, or 2) the phone is correct for that country but is not in service.

Which of those 2 options will depend on what Data Quality checks your System Administrator has configured.

4. Valid

If you see a single green tick, this indicates that the phone number entered is possible for the country selected, it does NOT however indicate whether or not the phone number is actually in service.

5. Formatted

If you see a double green tick, this indicates that the phone number is possible for the country selected, and has been formatted into the correct international format for that country, it does NOT however indicate whether or not the phone number is actually in service.

6. Authentic

If you see a white tick inside a green circle then the phone number has been confirmed as in service and if you were to dial it, it would ring (what we can't do is tell you if anyone will answer though).

Feature 3: Data Quality Enforcement

There are 3 modes of enforcement available:

1. No Action

2. Warning

In this mode, you will get a page-level warning if the phone comes back as invalid

3. Prevent Save

In this mode, you will get both a field-level warning and a page-level warning if the phone comes back as invalid, and you will be unable to save the record until a correct phone number has been entered.

Feature 4: Telephony

Just like the standard Dynamics offering, there is a Click to Dial button which will open the telephony integration you have configured on your computer and will also open the new Phonecall screen.
